Welcome to Memorial Presbyterian Church

GOOD NEWS! The congregation of Memorial Presbyterian Church has called the Rev. Tracy L. Evans to be its next installed pastor. Tracy Evans will begin her ministry with Memorial on February 1, 2012, and comes to us from 1st Presbyterian Church, Duncan, OK. Let’s welcome Tracy to Norman!

A cartoon that shows a light bulb above someone’s head perfectly depicts an epiphany, an “Aha!” moment of truth and recognition. In church lingo, Epiphany means the revealing of God to the whole world, and is represented through the story of the wise magi, non-Jews who followed a distant star to meet the poor, young Jesus in his hometown of Nazareth. In this season of light, we affirm our call to be like those wise visitors – to follow Jesus by imitating his life of service to all humanity. May the Epiphany star shine on us so that, like crystals with many facets, we will reflect the light through our actions for justice and peace.

Peace

Rev. Deborah Meinke, Pastor.

What does it mean to be Presbyterian?

• We believe that God creates, redeems and sustains us all and that God wants each of us to participate in bringing justice, peace, and love to flower in the world.

• We believe that God has been made known through Jesus the Christ and that God lives among us on the earth through God’s Holy Spirit

• We believe that God sends everyone to work toward the healing of the world, so we go from worship to meet God in our life outside the church doors.

• We believe that the Bible is God’s living word to us, our rule for faith.

• We welcome men and women, people of all ages to lead in worship, mission, and study.

• We celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism and Communion. Our Communion table is open to all who trust in God’s grace.

• We balance church leadership between clergy and laypersons and elect our leadership.

So, welcome to Memorial Presbyterian Church. We’re glad you came!
